Author to Conduct Research on Maturing Workforce

The Conference Board has named Jeri Sedlar, noted business author and speaker, as a Senior Advisor. Sedlar will conduct research for the Board on the maturing workforce and leadership issues and will conduct a national series of briefings on the maturing workforce.

Sedlar gained national recognition in 2002 with her book, Don't Retire, Rewire! 5 Steps to Fulfilling Work That Fuels Your Passion, Suits Your Personality or Fills Your Pocket (ALPHA). An expert on the mature worker, she has frequently been quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, and Reader's Digest. Sedlar was Editor-at-Large of Working Woman magazine from 1987 to 1994, worked with the Small Business Administration on women and entrepreneurship issues and with the Department of Labor on the Glass Ceiling initiative under Secretaries Elizabeth Dole and Lynn Martin.

'By 2010, the size of the 35-44 year old workforce will shrink by 10% and employers need to know where and how severely they face 'retirement risk' squeezed between a smaller mid-career workforce and increasing numbers of retirement-eligible employees,' says Linda Barrington, The Conference Board's Research Director, Management Excellence. 'Jeri Sedlar will lead The Conference Board's efforts to address the business challenges created by the maturing workforce'.

The Conference Board will conduct briefings in five cities in 2005, looking at maturing workforce issues and using the results of objective research on the topic.
