New Funds and Exec for Crowd Analysis Firm Armored Things

US-based crowd analysis firm Armored Things has raised $12m in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to expand its platform, add to its team, and accelerate its go-to-market efforts. The company has also hired former FocusVision exec Jonathan Tice as Chief Revenue Officer.

Jonathan TiceArmored Things provides facilities and security teams with a real-time understanding of how many, and how often people are utilizing different spaces in arenas, buildings, and on campuses. The software enables decisions related to crowd density, space utilization, security, maintenance, and guest experience, while also providing access to data trends for ROI related to space management.

New funding has been led by Nimble Ventures, with additional new investment from Gutbrain Ventures, PBJ Capital, and Micromanagement Ventures, and participation from existing investors Glasswing Ventures, Will Ventures, and iNovia Capital. Julie Johnson Roberts, Armored Things co-founder and CEO, comments: 'The market for crowd intelligence and analytics in sporting/entertainment venues and college and corporate campuses is poised for exceptional growth. The investment from Nimble and our new and existing investors puts us in a powerful position to capitalize on that opportunity.'

Separately, Tice (pictured) joins with responsibility for sales, marketing, business development, and strategic partnerships. Most recently, he was Chief Customer Officer at survey, research, and analytics software firm FocusVision, before which, he held sales leadership positions at Decipher, Critical Mix, and Authentic Response.
