ScotCen's Bradshaw Named ACSS Fellow

ScotCen Director Paul Bradshaw has been made a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, in recognition for the 'excellence and impact' of his work.

Paul BradshawThe Academy is composed of more than 1400 Fellows, all social scientists but spanning academia and the public, private and voluntary sectors. Bradshaw (pictured) has spent the past nearly seventeen years at NatCen, the past five spent as Group Head of the Scottish arm, ScotCen based in Edinburgh, where he has overseen several Scottish and UK-wide survey projects including Growing up in Scotland, the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey, the Scottish Health Survey, the Scottish Study of Early Learning and Childcare and the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey.

During his career, Bradshaw has worked on a wide range of studies involving quant and qual methods and across several policy areas. His interest and experience lie mainly in survey methods, particularly longitudinal methods, and broadly in the areas of families, children and young people.

Commenting on the recognition, Bradshaw said: 'I'm delighted to be recognised by fellow social scientists for my contribution to the discipline over the last twenty years. Working at ScotCen and leading the Growing Up in Scotland study have featured prominently in that time, affording me the opportunity to connect with multiple disciplines and methods to understand the lives of children, young people and their families in Scotland. I look forward to furthering my contribution and to participating in the work of the Academy in the coming years'.
