Nielsen Media Appoints PR Veteran

With the launch of its controversial Local People Meters (LPMs) in Chicago scheduled for August 5, Nielsen Media Research has announced the appointment of PR veteran Cheryl Pearson-McNeil as Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs.

Pearson-McNeil previously served as Director of Station Relations for NBC 5 Chicago, and has served on the boards of several prominent community organizations. She brings 20 years of public relations, community affairs and communications experience in diverse industries including television, advertising, politics, non-profit and community relations. In her new role she will manage and co-ordinate overall media, public relations and brand building efforts for Nielsen in the Chicago area, and develop relations with key local and national organizations, government officials and community leaders.

She earned an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and a BA in Public Relations from Purdue University.

Susan Whiting, Nielsen President and CEO, says Pearson-McNeil brings 'a unique blend of experiences and broad-based leadership that will ensure the smooth transition to electronic measurement (LPMs) from the diary system in this market'.
