Former Thinkbox CEO Tess Alps Joins Channel 4 Board

UK regulator Ofcom has announced the appointment of four new non-executive Directors to the Board of publicly owned broadcaster Channel 4, including former Thinkbox CEO Tess Alps.

Tess AlpsAlps (pictured) led TV marketing body Thinkbox from 2006 until her retirement last year. The organisation aims to help the main UK commercial broadcasters understand how audiences engage with TV advertising, and its shareholders are Channel 4, ITV, Sky Media, Turner Media Innovations and UKTV. Earlier, she spent thirteen years at communications agency the PHD Group in the UK, having joined as Broadcast Director and latterly served as Group Chairman. She began her career in TV sales, latterly as an ITV Sales Director, before her move to PHD.

The other three new Board members are former Channel 5 Chair and CEO Dawn Airey; David Kogan, who previously spent nine years at Reuters Television, latterly as MD Global; and former BBC Today Programme Editor Sarah Sands. The appointees will join the Board for a three-year term, and each was approved by Nadine Dorries MP, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Channel 4 Chair Charles Gurassa comments: 'I am delighted to welcome Dawn Airey, Tess Alps, David Kogan and Sarah Sands to the Channel 4 Board. As well as bringing a breadth and depth of personal creative and leadership experience, they all share a great admiration and enthusiasm for Channel 4's unique role and creative energy'.
