WPP's Wavemaker Names New Chief Executive Officer

WPP's consumer data specialist Wavemaker has named Ryan Webber as Chief Executive Officer in Canada. He replaces Kristie Painting, who is now Country Manager for Pinterest.

Ryan WebberWavemaker, which was set up in 2016 by WPP media agency MEC, supports clients' consumer decision-making and experience activity through media, content and technology. Through its consumer data and insights, the business focuses on understanding where and how marketing can help brands win more sales.

Webber (pictured) joins from visitor management platform, iLobby, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer, before which, he worked for mobility and IoT management specialist SOTI, latterly as SVP of Sales, Americas & MENA. Earlier, he held senior roles at KORE Telematics and TELUS Business Solutions. In his new role, Webber will serve on GroupM Canada's Executive Committee to represent Wavemaker Canadian operations, in addition to the Wavemaker Global ExCo board.

Louisa Wong, Wavemaker Americas, CEO, comments: 'Ryan's strengths are uniquely suited to this role - a passion for finding new ways to solve problems, an extraordinary EQ, and great commercial connections in the Canadian market. The perspective he is bringing will help challenge the ways our existing clients build a relationship with brands, and positively provoke prospective clients' business strategies.'
