$40m Funds for Product Testing Platform Maze

Product testing platform Maze has raised $40m in a Series B round of funding, for use in developing new solutions, including further investment in its new participant management solution Reach.

Jonathan WidawskiMaze was launched four years ago by software developers Jonathan Widawski and Thomas Mary, with the aim of building 'a faster, more integrated way of doing product research', and has grown to a team of more than 130 people spread across 35 countries. The software is aimed at whole product teams, including non-specialists, and provides tools from prototype tests, surveys, and card sorting to 5-second tests. Recent additions include Reach, which allows users to curate their own database of research participants, send Maze research studies via email campaigns, and collect user insights in one platform; and Clips, which captures video and screen recordings of people testing a product. Users can also bring in tools like Adobe XD and Sketch to design tests and surveys.

The new funding was led by Felicis' Victoria Treyger, with participation from existing investors Emergence, Amplify, Partech and Seedcamp, and joined by strategic partners Atlassian Ventures, Zoom Ventures and HubSpot Ventures, plus angel investors. The round follows a Series A of $20m a year earlier.

The new strategic partners will help Maze build new workflow solutions allowing product teams to collaborate further when sourcing participants, collecting user insights and sharing results enterprise-wide, according to the firm.

Co-founder & CEO Widawski (pictured) is a veteran product designer & former UX teacher who has worked for clients like McKinsey, Rocket Internet & PSG. The company is online at www.maze.co .
