More funds for Indonesian Insight Firm Populix

Mobile-based Indonesian consumer insights platform Populix has won a further US$7.7m in a Series A round of financing, for use in continuing to optimize its existing products and to release new services.

Headquartered in Jakarta and founded in 2018 by CEO Timothy Astandu and COO Eileen Kamtawijoyo, Populix offers qual and quant studies tapping a pool of more than 300,000 authentic, verified and highly targeted respondents throughout Indonesia, and says 45% of all its clients are first-time consumer insights users. The firm's Popscore credit scoring system, assesses the quality of a respondent in terms of how truthful and active they are; datasets on different generational groups are available by subscription (Gen z available now and Millennials to follow in Q4 of this year along with sub-panels including car-owners, working professionals, and other respondent profiles; and the pay-per-use SaaaS research platform Poplite for mass users, due to be enhanced in the next quarter with the new Survey Builder 2.0 feature.

The new funding round was led by Intudo Ventures and Acrew Capital, with participation from Altos Ventures and Quest Ventures, and follows a $1.2m pre-Series A round thirteen months ago. The firm says its revenue has grown three times in the past year, and that it plans next year to initiate regional expansion to neighboring Southeast Asian countries, focused around Poplite and building off its dominant position in Indonesia.
