Uncrowd Adds Former dunnhumby CEO to Advisory Board

In the UK, customer experience measurement platform Uncrowd has added former dunnhumby CEO Simon Hay to its Advisory Board.

Simon HayCreated by retail and systems specialists Richard Hammond and Rocky Howard, Uncrowd allows global retailers and brands to measure customer experience through 'innovative methods' of data collection. The platform collects 'objective data' together with observations to generate a view of how a company is performing against its competition, and identifies why a customer chooses one company over another. Last year, Uncrowd raised £3m in new funding, to further develop its platform and expand its team.

Hay (pictured) spent 25 years with dunnhumby, the data firm behind the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme. In 1991, he became the firm's first full-time employee; he later joined its Board and established dunnhumbyUSA through a partnership with grocery retail chain Kroger, before returning to run the UK and Ireland business in 2009. He took on the leadership of the company in 2011. In the 1980s he worked at market analysis company CACI, where dunnhumby founders Edwina Dunn and Clive Humby began their careers.

Commenting on the appointment, Hammond said: 'Securing an industry powerhouse like Simon Hay proves we're onto something special. His analytical mind, combined with his understanding of the retail industry and shopper behaviour, will not only allow us to innovate and scale our own business, but will also help our customers tap into the power of 'Relative Attractiveness' to improve their differentiation, compete better and drive multiple growth levers'.
