Business Intelligence Firm Tellius Secures $16m Funds

Reston, VA-based decision intelligence platform Tellius has announced a $16 million Series B funding round, which will be used to enhance its product, expand its go-to-market capabilities, and recruit for sales, marketing and product engineering functions.

The round, which brings total fundraising to date to $33 million, was led by Baird Capital, with participation from all the firm's existing investors.

The firm's platform combines machine learning with a search interface for ad hoc exploration of business data, allowing specialists and non-technical users to analyse billions of records in a few seconds. Tellius says its software puts greater analytical power directly into the hands of both analysts and business teams, finding business drivers 'hidden' across disparate data sources and providing an overview of what's happening in the business and how to change it, with an understanding of why metrics are changing.

In the past year, the firm has partnered with data warehouse vendors like Databricks and vertical solution providers like Indegene to extend the role of decision intelligence across the company's customer base; and has made senior hires including Hardik Chheda as Chief Product Officer and John Aven as Head of Engineering.
