Swiss Buy and Briefing Launch for UNICEPTA

Cologne, Germany-based media intelligence provider UNICEPTA has acquired Swiss media analysis firm Adwired; and has announced the launch of a new media review service called Executive News Briefing.

Jochen FreeseUNICEPTA was founded in 1996 and supports around 550 organisations worldwide with media, marketing and corporate intelligence, using AI-based crawling technology to capture and process content from more than 460 million sources in print, online, social media, radio and TV. For the new Briefing service, analysts and editors then select and compile content from this according to company-specific relevance criteria, to produce an interactive digital magazine.

The Adwired acquisition is UNICEPTA's second in six months, following that of Berlin-based corporate data analyst Giance Technologies.

Based in Zurich and established in 1995, Adwired supports communications and marketing departments in sectors including consumer goods, industrial, financial, pharmaceutical and automotive, with bespoke media monitoring and analysis solutions. Its BrandTicker service allows users to monitor and analyze their brands in detail in a preconfigured dashboard, based on analysis of millions of print, online and social media sources, and using more than a million tested and manually translated attributes and topic keywords to track brand perception, customer satisfaction, reputational risks and ESG topics.

The firm's management board and fifteen staff will stay in their roles post-acquisition. Co-founder and CEO Patrick Schürmann says the deal gives his firm access to an enormous data pool, and a partner that supports its technological innovation. Unicepta CEO Jochen Freese (pictured) says the deal brings 'great synergies' for international customers in Switzerland and elsewhere, and comments: 'The need for highly relevant, data-driven insights continues to grow among decision-makers in communications, marketing and other strategic business areas. Especially in times of a changing economic situation, they can identify opportunities and risks at an early stage and coordinate their measures in a targeted manner'.
