Spacelabs Buys Predictive Analytics Firm PeraHealth

In the US, medical equipment and services provider Spacelabs Healthcare has acquired predictive analytics company PeraHealth, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2010, PeraHealth develops predictive enterprise software based on the Rothman Index, a score to quantify patient acuity and measure the patient condition which the firm says is the only FDA-cleared predictive analytics solution of its kind. The company's machine learning platform provides actionable insights at both the patient and population level, using data from electronic medical records (EMRs) to deliver both a health score and information for care providers.

Following closure of the deal Joseph Beals (pictured), former CEO of PeraHealth, will lead Spacelabs' data science strategy. Spacelabs President Shalabh Chandra comments: 'By integrating PeraHealth's powerful analytics into Spacelabs' digital health portfolio, we can help healthcare organizations deliver better outcomes and decrease costs with a clearer picture of their patients' health'.
