Regan to Leave the Research Society after Twenty Years

In Australia, professional membership body The Research Society has announced that Julie Regan is retiring from her position as QPR Manager and Managing Editor of the industry body's publication, Research News Live. After nearly twenty years with the organisation, her final day will be July 5th.

Julie ReganRegan (pictured) joined part-time in 2003 and initially looked after the Certificate Market Research program. She went full time in 2004 as second in command to the CEO, overseeing finance and governance, the QPR (Qualified Professional Researcher) accreditation, and publications including Research News, AJMSR and the annual report. Regan moved back to part-time in 2008 to complete her Master's degree.

As Manager of the QPR program she has overseen various changes, including the move from 'grandfathering' self-assessment to the introduction of a QPR exam, and subsequently the introduction of expanded entry pathways. In addition, until 2013 she was Managing Editor of the Australasian Journal of Market & Social Research (AJMSR), working with Professors Lester Johnson and David Bednall to publish a twice-yearly journal of a mix of theoretical and practical papers of relevance to practising market and social researchers.

CEO Angus Hunter comments: 'Julie's wealth of experience will be sorely missed by the society. She has been invaluable support to me in understanding the history and governance structure of the Society and I am sure my predecessor, Elissa Molloy, will echo my appreciation of Julie's all-round contribution'.

Regan adds: 'I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the research industry with amazing people doing amazing research to affect change. My thanks and gratitude to my colleagues at TRS, and all those I have had the pleasure to encounter who have helped make this a wild and wonderful ride'.
