dunnhumby Names New CEO

Tesco-owned data firm dunnhumby has appointed Josh Bottomley as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Dan Olley who had been in the post only since January 2022.

Josh Bottomleydunnhumby operates a Customer Data Science Platform combining software and consulting to help retailers and CPGs uncover insights from shopper data, both on- and off-line, with the aim of driving customer loyalty. In February, the company launched a tool called Revenue Growth Planner, to enable CPG brands to forecast the sales impact of changes to a product's pricing and promotional strategy.

Bottomley (pictured) will join next month from CVC Capital Partners, where he was an Operating Partner. Before this he spent more than seven years at HSBC in London and Hong Kong, serving as Global Head of Digital, Data and Development. Before this he was Global Head of Display for Google; Group Director and MD at the Financial Times Group, FT Personal Finance; an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co; and a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs.

In his new role, Bottomley takes over from Olley, who is now CEO of financial services company Hargreaves Lansdown. Commenting on Bottomley's appointment, Tesco Group CEO Ken Murphy said: 'Josh is an energetic leader with strong experience in improving customer propositions, product and digital innovation, and in leading tech and product transformation. The capabilities and skills of dunnhumby give us unique strengths, and I'm confident that under Josh's leadership we'll continue to build on that. I'd also like to thank Dan for his continued passion for dunnhumby, and for his leadership in developing and executing the dunnhumby strategy'.
