SurveyMonkey to Expand in Dublin and Launch New Tools

Online survey specialist SurveyMonkey is expanding its Dublin office, as it lays out plans to invest in artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics. The moves follow its recent acquisition by a consortium led by insights sector investment firm Symphony Technology Group (STG).

Eric JohnsonHeadquartered in San Mateo, California and recently acquired for approximately $1.5bn, SurveyMonkey provides online subscription-based tools through which individuals can create surveys, collect responses and analyze results, along with an Enterprise version for companies wanting to gather, compare and share business-related feedback data. Its GetFeedback division offers software to help companies understand and improve their customer experience.

The company currently has 126 employees in Ireland, and new CEO Eric Johnson (pictured) told the Sunday Independent that Dublin and its sister office in Amsterdam serve the EMEA market, as a 'big chunk' of the company's revenue is now outside of the US. Expansion plans include the addition of a prompt allowing users to build a 15 to 30-question survey and adjust that 'on the fly' with AI tools. The company is also building 'under-the-bonnet tech' to make sense of data created by its users.

'Dublin has been a really strong office and strong pool of talent for us on a number of fronts and we expect that to continue' says Johnson. 'There's some development work being done here, we have a big commercial team, customer support teams. There's lots of good engineers that are in Dublin and there's lots of good salespeople and customer support that we've been able to find and retain here'.
