Launch and Funds for Intelligence Platform Flip AI

In California, this week saw the launch of a new company offering an 'observability intelligence platform'. Flip AI, which has raised $6.5m at launch, taps a large language model (LLM) to predict problems and analyse causes, deriving insights from the outputs of other firms' observability tools.

Corey HarrisonLarger businesses already use tools from a number of vendors to identify the root causes of software failures and incidents, but Flip says this can 'take hours, days, weeks or can even go undetected' - losing revenue, harming brand reputation and pulling developers away from their normal roles. Flip automates the incident resolution process, sitting on top of these other systems - including the likes of Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, OpenSearch, Amazon S3 and Azure Blob Storage - rationalizing their various inputs and setting out conclusions accessible for those with little or no training.

CEO and co-founder Corey Harrison (pictured), a former White House and Pentagon advisor, comments: 'When enterprise software doesn't perform as intended, it directly impacts customer experience and revenue. Current observability tools present an overwhelming amount of data on application performance. Developers and operators spend hours, sometimes days, poring through data and debugging incidents. Our LLM does this heavy lifting in seconds and immediately reduces mean time to detect and remediate critical incidents. Enterprises are calling Flip the 'holy grail' of observability'.

Harrison's co-founders are Sunil Mallya, CTO, who was the head of AWS' NLP service Comprehend, and earlier co-founded Neon Labs; and Deap Ubhi, CPO, who led the launch of AWS' Activate and was the co-founder and CEO of consumer-facing app Burrp!

Funding was led by Factory, with participation from Morgan Stanley Next Level Fund and GTM Capital
