Half Century for AMSRS

The Australian Market & Social Research Society (AMSRS) will celebrate its 50th anniversary with its 2005 National Conference at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from 9 - 11 October. 'Impact 2005' will examine the effect the profession has had on Australian communities, government and the private sector.

AMSRS has called for synopses for formal papers on this theme by March 7 2005 - details are at www.amsrs.com.au/files/Call_For_Papers.pdf . Questions for discussion will include:
  • 'What impact market and social research has had over the last 50 years and what can we do, individually or as an industry, to deliver more impact, more meaningfully, more often over the next 50?
  • How research impacts business and government decisions and how to do this better?
  • How changes in technology will impact how we conduct research moving forward?
  • What have we learnt in the last 50 years to teach us how to conduct research better?
All formal papers will be eligible for the Tony Wheeler Best Conference Paper Award ($3,000) and researchers under the age of 30, or in their first 5 years of their career will be eligible for the George Camakaris Best Paper Award ($1,500).
