Basis Global Opens in Manchester
Insight consultancy Basis Global, headquartered in London, has opened an office in Manchester, to be led by John Portsmouth, Director of Consumer. The firm also has three locations in the US.
 Basis Research was founded in 1990 and provides ad hoc and tracking solutions for clients across retail and a range of other sectors. It now also has offices in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles; a health business launched in 2018 and a social research practice added three years later. This summer it launched a specific division dedicated to B2B insight, led by newly appointed Managing Partner Tom Percival, and in October it announced Basis Signals, a new quarterly series combining automated pattern detection and human interpretation to identify and explain early shifts in consumer behaviour.
The new office expands Basis Global's UK footprint, giving the company access to a wider pool of talent. The Manchester team will work across the firm's full client portfolio, including consumer, B2B, financial services and technology, on projects including both brand tracking and project-based research.
Portsmouth (pictured) joins from Kantar where he spent around six years, and previously worked for four years at Illuminas. He comments: 'There's a confidence in Manchester that's hard to fake.
