The Lab Strengthens Quant Team
Australia-based cultural insights and strategy company The Lab has appointed Maria Georgopoulou as Senior Quant Strategist, and Ernest Mo as Quant Strategist. James Rochlin has been promoted to Executive Director, leading the now six-strong quant team.
 The company, which celebrates its twentieth birthday this year, offers brand and customer strategy and positioning work, qual and quant research, and semiotics expertise, for clients in retail, automotive, banking and other sectors. It also operates an AI and machine learning division called Lab AI.
Georgopoulou joins from Kantar in London, while Mo was previously at Australian agency Fiftyfive5. The two new arrivals join Charlie Ellis and Felix Grant who joined as Quantitative Strategists last year, and the firm says it plans further hires in the coming months.
The Lab's client portfolio includes notable names such as ANZ, Super Retail Group, Mars Petcare, Toyota, and the Queensland Government. Founded in 2004, The Lab operates studios in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
Rochlin (pictured), who has two decades of global, quant commercial research experience, joined the company in 2023 as Group Strategy Director and Head of Quant.
