Ray Poynter to Chair ESOMAR PSC

Global research association ESOMAR has chosen past President Ray Poynter as Chair of its Professional Standards Committee (PSC).

Ray PoynterThe PSC plays a key role in safeguarding professional integrity across the global insights industry, interpreting and enforcing the ICC/Esomar International Code, and providing guidance on how established ethical principles apply to new methods and technologies.

Poynter (pictured) brings nearly five decades of experience to the role. Currently MD of The Future Place consultancy, and focusing on AI-enhanced research and professional training, he is also the founder of NewMR and ResearchWiseAI. He has worked in senior roles at Sandpiper, The Research Business, Intelliquest, Millward Brown, VirtualSurveys, Vision Critical and Potentiate; and contributed to the development of techniques from CAPI to social media research. He holds a master's degree in research methodology from The Open University, a postgraduate certificate of education from Nottingham University, and a BSc (Hons) in computer science and economics from the University of Salford.

Poynter was ESOMAR Council President from 2023 to 2025 and a Council member from 2018 to 2021.
