Comscore Adds Impact Measurement for ChatGPT Ads
Comscore has added new features to its AI Intelligence solution, allowing users to measure the visibility of ad placements alongside chat responses, along with their impact on digital traffic, engagement and consumer behavior.
The firm says the rise of sponsored placements means AI is beginning to function 'not only as a discovery environment, but also as a media environment.' This means brands need independent measurement of the visibility of brands and their competitors, and a link between AI exposure and downstream consumer behavior, so as to help marketers evaluate AI alongside other media channels. Comscore data for the travel category suggests that ad presence on hotel-related ChatGPT prompts with identified source links increased from 6% in March 2026 to 14% in April and 24% in May.
Comscore AI Intelligence is built on real user activity from the company's opt-in panel, capturing direct AI interactions and linking them to digital behavior. The data now provided for ChatGPT and other AI platforms also includes prompt and response pairs, cited domains, conversation identifiers and event timestamps, providing a deeper understanding of how AI interactions connect to audience behavior.
'As AI becomes a more significant part of the media mix,' says Chief Technology and Analytics Officer Smriti Sharma (pictured), 'Comscore continues to deliver the kind of trusted, independent measurement that business have grown to rely on across other channels... That means understanding not only campaign performance, but where a brand appears relative to competitors, how paid and organic visibility coexist, and whether that exposure ultimately translates into downstream consumer behavior.'
The new capability is now integrated into Comscore's production pipeline for monthly ingestion and reporting. Web site: www.comscore.com .
