Dolby Adds Sports Intelligence to its OptiView Platform

Veteran sound tech company Dolby Laboratories has announced an upgrade to its OptiView live sports platform, including the addition of real-time, AI-powered intelligence on the drivers of fan engagement.

Dolby logoFounded in the 1960s in London by Ray Dolby, the company creates audio, visual and voice technologies for film and TV, music and gaming. Dolby OptiView provides teams, leagues and streamers with a full suite of capabilities for understanding their audiences, creating personalised experiences, monetising their work and delivering live content.

Dolby OptiView Sports Intelligence uses real-time game data and viewer data to build a minute-by-minute understanding of the game, including how it is developing and what keeps fans watching - it then helps clients use this to create highlights, catch-ups and personalised experiences. As an example, stats of interest can be displayed to keep 'data-driven fans' interested when the action lags; video can transition into and out of multiview for fantasy fans following multiple teams / games; or new audiences can be brought up to speed with stories about history, personal rivalries and off-field developments in the sport.

The new release also adds Dolby Vision tech to the platform, and provides greater flexibility for Dolby OptiView Ads.

'As audiences engage with sports in more ways than ever, understanding what resonates with fans has become increasingly important,' says Giles Baker, SVP of Dolby Cloud Solutions, Dolby Laboratories. 'Dolby OptiView gives our partners the power to deliver live sports experiences that take fan engagement to a new level, building stronger connections and loyalty while creating opportunities to increase revenue.'
