Scottish Firm Smart Data Foundry Shuts Down
Edinburgh-based MR company Smart Data Foundry (SDF) has entered administration and ceased trading, with the loss of all 25 jobs. The firm was a not-for-profit subsidiary of the University of Edinburgh, promising 'safe and secure access to high-value private sector data'.
SDF worked with nfp and public sector clients to develop dashboards integrating de-identified data from bank accounts with contextual information, to provide an overview of consumer financial well-being throughout the UK.
Despite ambitious plans and senior appointments in 2025, the company had been under 'significant financial pressure' throughout this year due to a 'funding shortfall' and cashflow difficulties, according to reports in the Scottish press, and appointed administrators on August 28th.
On its web site at www.smartdatafoundry.com , the company directs those with enquiries to the Joint Administrators' team at cp.edinburgh@frpadvisory.com .
