Britton Passes Baton at Suzy
Suzy founder Matt Britton has stepped down from the CEO role, to be replaced by eleven-year company veteran Bryan Silverman. The firm has also received additional funding, led by H.I.G. Growth Partners. Britton becomes Non-Executive Chairman, with a continued role supporting Suzy's growth.
Silverman (pictured above) joined Suzy's predecessor company Crowdtap as a Sales Development Representative in 2015 - and served most recently as Suzy's COO. According to Britton (pictured below), 'Bryan has been part of this story since the very beginning, and there's no one better to carry the torch forward.'
The change at the top comes just five months after Britton announced the company's 'refounding' as a 'decision engine'. Explaining the change of emphasis at the time, he said: 'Every CMO we talk to says some version of the same thing: we have more intelligence than we know what to do with. What we don't have is a way to turn it into a decision the whole organization can act on. The bottleneck was never data. It's the last mile from intelligence to impact.' Discussing the latest announcement and the task facing the new CEO, Britton states: 'I named her Suzy because I imagined a day when people wouldn't have to do the work themselves anymore; they could just ask Suzy for the insight they needed, and she'd tell them what they need to do to make that decision confidently. That day has come.'
Silverman says his promotion comes at a time when the volume of data available to brands has exploded, while clarity has not kept pace. 'Our customers have more data today than they've ever had,' he notes, 'and yet many of them told us the same thing: they feel more blind to their decisions than they used to, not less. That's the problem we exist to solve in this next phase of Suzy - not by giving brands one more place to collect data, but by turning everything they know, and everything we know, into the clarity they need to make their next big call with confidence. Suzy has been an incredible research tool for the better part of a decade for hundreds of brands - the next phase of Suzy is meant to build on that foundation.'
The company, previously the recipient of more than $120m in VC funding, says it will use the latest investment - the amount of which was not revealed - 'to continue its AI-first product evolution.'
