$7m for Online Conversation Analyst and Modeller GUDEA

AI-powered narrative intelligence platform GUDEA has secured $7 million in a seed funding round, which will support continued investment in its predictive modeling capabilities, expansion of its engineering and go-to-market teams, and broader coverage across platforms, languages and regions.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, GUDEA helps client organizations understand how narratives form and spread across digital media, through a combination of natural language analysis and behavioral modelling. This includes anticipating public / market reaction, identifying relevant key influencers, and responding to emerging conversations. The firm says its own analysis repeatedly shows that 'small groups of users exhibiting inauthentic behavior drive an outsized share of online discussion, on topics ranging from consumer brands to financial markets.' Most companies are left to deal with the consequences of this with little knowledge of what is really happening.

GUDEA's real-time monitoring distinguishes authentic engagement from inauthentic behavior, and classifies audiences into five distinct categories, and is used by news outlets, major corporates and PR groups. The company was founded in 2023 by Keith Presley, Jonathan Sperber and James Thomin, whose backgrounds span military intelligence, national security operations and AI development.

The round was co-led by Mudita Ventures and Collide Capital. Mudita's Buddy Foster says GUDEA measures the information environment 'with a rigor we have not seen anywhere else in the market.'
