Funds for Korean Data Start-Up Nums AI
Seoul, South Korea-based company Nums AI has raised just under $4.5m in pre-seed funding, for further development of its tools helping clients to make predictions and take decisions by learning from structured data.
The firm offers two models: Causilo, which learns from data in tables, and Ephris, which learns from graphs. Its team of researchers and engineers work across model architectures, synthetic data, pretraining, and inference. Users include companies in banking and credit provision, looking to assess credit risks and estimate upcoming payment default based on billing and repayment history; automotive clients, who can estimate a used car's asking price to support listing-price decisions; and retail firms analysing browsing behavior to estimate purchase intent.
The company is led by Jaemin Yoo, an Assistant Professor at Seoul National University, and was established less than a year ago. Investors include Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Korea Investment Partners. Stonebridge Ventures, SBVA, KT Investment, and Base Ventures.
