Mystery Tickets for NOP

NOPWorld has announced that its Mystery Shopping division will monitor sales of UK rail tickets for ATOC, the Association of Train Operating Companies. The contract runs for up to 5 years.

With a start backdated to April 2005, the deal sees NOP using its Internet-based system Cybershop to measure the accuracy and impartiality of sale of rail tickets at ticket offices, telesales offices and Internet sites.

ATOC was set up by the train operators formed during privatisation of the railways under the Railways Act 1993. Its work is administered through four companies: ATOC Limited, through which it provides most of its services, employs the staff and acts as agent for many of the schemes; Rail Settlement Plan Limited, which manages the revenue; Rail Staff Travel Limited, managing staff travel, and NRES Limited, the public information provider.

As well as being the official voice of the passenger rail industry, it provides its members with a range of services that enable them to comply with conditions laid on them in their franchise agreements and operating licences and including revenue allocation and settlement, National Rail Enquiries, international products and the Relationship with London Regional Transport. Its web site is at www.atoc.org
