Training and Debates to Enhance Congress

The 2005 ESOMAR Congress will introduce two new features: 'Masterclasses' offering individual skills development ideas for delegates, and debating sessions. ESOMAR says the new features are designed to 'refresh and reinvigorate the market research contribution'.

In each of the three masterclasses, a recognised expert will provide participants with instruction and 'inspirational guidance' to help them extend their skill set, with a focus on improving personal performance:

Delegates will also be invited to actively participate in informal debates on hot MR industry topics:
  • in 'Brilliant Basics' CIAO Market Research and Fat Planet will propose innovative ways of using Internet technologies to reach potential respondents, and United Breweries and ACNielsen will discuss how to overcome the barriers to creativity in market research.

  • 'The Client Focus' will begin with speakers from Unilever and ACNielsen giving 'the CEO's perspective' on developing better consumer instincts in decision makers

  • 'Discussing Standards' features Nuance Research and Annik Technology Services on whether regulation and quality standards compliance are more important than creativity.

  • 'All about respondents' includes contributions from Synovate UK and Luth Research and covers the importance of building lasting relationships with respondents, while

  • the 'Word of Mouth' debate features CRM Metrix and NOP World asking whether researchers should stop asking questions and start 'listening in' to consumers.


The Congress, entitled 'Making a difference. The impact of powerful research' takes place in Cannes from 18 - 21 September and aims to 'explore the true value of market research as a strategic, dynamic and accountable platform for business, society and individuals'.
