MVL Group Buys MRSI

US agency MRSI (Marketing Research Services Inc.) has been bought by MVL Group, owner of QuickTest and Target Research Group, with the help of a $27.4 million finance line from its majority owner, commercial lender Allied Capital Corp.

MRSI was founded 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio and is now one of the top 40 research firms in the United States with around 280 staff. It was one of the first US firms to adopt CATI in the early 1980s, and has recently been a leader in the development of predictive dialling for MR.

Jupiter, Fla.-based MVL has bought out MRSI owner of 16 years Randy Thaman, who will continue in the role of President. Allied MD John Shulman said the acquisition would give MVL additional full-service research capabilities complementary to its current services, as well as allowing economies of scale in MVL's data collection businesses.
