Asia-Pacific Online Panel Launched

Asian-based research process outsourcing company the Pulse Group has launched an online community panel of businesses and consumers. The company hopes the new panel, Planet Pulse, will help clients reap the benefits of online research in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region.

Planet Pulse will initially offer both B2C and B2B panels, and may introduce speciality panels in the future. To achieve a higher response rate, Pulse has developed ways to reach panel members on the move, via GPRS, i-Mode and Blackberry wireless platforms.

Asia-Pacific and Japan now represent 35.8% of the global online audience. However, currently only around 5 to 10% of data collection in the area is conducted online. The VOIP CATI Centre launched by Pulse last month is already helping clients to bridge the gap between online and offline collection modes. The new Panel takes this one step further.

Group CEO Bob Chua says that as consumer behaviour continues to shift, 'it is imperative that marketers and their market research methods follow suit, with more creative means of collecting and distributing market intelligence. Such alternative methods will allow market research firms to stay ahead of the curve as far as data collection is concerned'.
