Future Publishing Appoints Research Head

Nicola Truman has joined UK special-interest magazine publishers Future Publishing in a new role as Head of Research. She was previously Head of Ad Marketing for publisher IPC's Connect & TX divisions.

Truman has more than ten years' experience in media, including a stint with MTV Europe as Strategic Planner for Ad Sales. In her new role, she will be in charge of both market and advertising research, and will be responsible for developing the range and scope of Future's research projects.

Her initial brief is to strengthen Future's advertising research function, a task that will see her work closely with MR Manager Caroline Fraser. Fraser will continue to undertake bespoke research projects for Future's four consumer publishing groups: Entertainment, Excite, Living and Technology.

Future's Ad Sales Director, Jayne Caple explains that the development of the company's research department is a vital business move. 'Readers of special-interest magazines are extremely powerful brand-champions, and it is vital that we find new ways to demonstrate this. Nicola is starting with Future at an important stage in our development - as it becomes paramount to let potential advertisers know the value of our narrow-but-deep focus.'

Future publishes more than 150 magazines and employs 1,450 people in the UK, US, France and Italy. The company is online at www.futureplc.com .
