Experian Strengthens Asia Pacific Team

Information giant Experian has appointed Richard Watkins as Senior VP for the Asia Pacific region and John Harker as MD for Business Development. Both have relocated to Hong Kong, which will serve as its headquarters for the region.

The company already has a major presence in Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan and a growing presence in mainland China. MD Nigel Fine says Asia Pacific is a strategic market for Experian and that the company is 'committed to growth through organic expansion and acquisition... Strengthening our leadership team in the region is key to achieving our growth ambitions in Asia Pacific'.

Watkins is a 12-year veteran of Experian and a member of the Experian International Board. He was previously MD of the company's Management Systems Division. Harker has been with the company one year longer, and moves to Hong Kong from Australia, in order to be 'closer to the high-growth markets of Asia and, in particular, the Greater China region. He will spearhead the company's efforts in developing new markets and M&A opportunities with a team across all the major markets.

Experian businesses in Asia Pacific include decision support and credit decision business Experian-Scorex,; Experian Business Strategies, a marketing solutions business offering MOSAIC and other data and analytics services for Hong Kong and China; hosted / bureau solutions service Information Services; and QAS, an address management solution provider.
