Harbor Research and e-principles Merge

US-based Harbor Research and UK-based e-principles have announced a merger. The European operation will henceforth be known as Harbor Research Europe, and will focus on the business impacts of networked devices and technology, known as the 'pervasive Internet' and M2M (machine to machine) markets.

Harbor Research Europe, based in London, will be headed by e-principles founder Robin Duke-Woolley. The new company will also provide research into the wireless market, and Internet services such as voice, video and multimedia. Its first major analysis, to be launched shortly, will provide an M2M market forecast for the next decade.

The merger comes just a few months after Harbor's acquisition of Wireless Data Research. Harbor founder and President Glen Allmendinger states that 'the combined expertise of the three firms' leadership now places Harbor Research in an unparalleled position among research groups covering emerging technologies for the pervasive Internet'.

Duke-Woolley says the merger creates 'the first truly international research and consulting firm specialising in M2M/pervasive Internet', and believes the firm will be 'the first to assess the impact of the future convergence of machine- and people-centric applications'.

Duke-Woolley and Allmendinger will be running joint sessions at the M2M Expo and Conference Europe 2005 in Amsterdam in November (www.m2mexpo.com ).

Last week, Harbor introduced a white paper, Designing the Future of Information: The Internet Beyond the Web, available online at www.harborresearch.com . e-priniciples is online at www.e-principles.com.
