Mattson Jack Expands MR Team

US-based pharmaceutical and biotech specialist the Mattson Jack Group (MJG) has appointed Eric John as VP and Bernadete Piassa as Senior Project Director to its MR team. As a result of the expansion, MJG says it is planning to create 'a number of unique products' and expand its segmentation and modelling services.

John will join the company's Advanced Methods team, based in Philadelphia. He was previously Associate Director for Virology Market Research at Bristol-Myers Squibb, directing both primary and secondary analysis for both inline products and launches.

Other experience includes several years as Director of Planning and MR for Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for researching diabetes products, and as Research Manager of Strategic Studies for Scott-Levin Associates. He is experienced in strategic planning, developing return on investment for pharmaceutical promotional campaigns, and pricing and reimbursement issues.

Piassa, who will report to John, has worked in pharma market research for nine years. She is described as 'an award-winning writer in both the US and Brazil' with a 'special combination of marketing and international experience'. She has a degree in Journalism from Casper Libero University in Sao Paulo.

The new appointments follow the addition of three new members of staff to the company's Advanced Methods team in July (www.mrweb.com/drno/news4271.htm ), including William Serad, who joined as Chief Methodologist.

Bill Bagwell, VP of Marketing Research for MJG, says the appointments 'demonstrate MJG's commitment to better serve the needs of its clients by enhancing its growth strategy capabilities'. He adds that the company plans to expand its services 'with more complex customer segmentation, product positioning, and choice-based modeling.'

MJG is part of the Kantar Group, a WPP company. Its web site is at www.mattsonjack.com.
