WPP Creates Indian KPO Agency

WPP's media investment arm GroupM has launched a new knowledge process outsourcing company in India, in collaboration with consulting and technology firm Covansys. The new company, known as Meritus Analytics, will focus on data analytics for healthcare, financial services and retail clients worldwide.

The new venture is an extension of GroupM's existing global analytics centre in Bangalore, which already provides outsourced data analytics for WPP companies. Meritus Analytics is designed as a 'one-stop shop', offering end-to-end services from raw/summary data to actionable insights.

Meritus will be wholly owned by WPP. Covansys will provide technical support and expertise but will not be represented on the board.

WPP Chairman and CEO Sir Martin Sorrell says: 'WPP sees measurability as one of the key areas of future growth. Clients need to make decisions based on measurability and measure the impact of their decisions in terms of ROI. Data analytics is a key aid in making this happen and therefore a priority area for WPP to invest in.'

He added that India is already at the forefront of data analytics, and that its KPO sector is poised to boom.

Meritus is expected to start operations on January 2, 2006.

GroupM is online at www.groupm.com.
