Senior Appointments at SSI

Connecticut based Survey Sampling International (SSI) has announced two major appointments designed to support the company's worldwide expansion. Peter Milla joins as Chief Information Officer and Michael Newman as VP, Business Development. Both appointments are effective from March 7th.

Most recently, Milla served as Executive Vice President and CIO with Harris Interactive, where he built customer-focused IT Engineering, IT Operations, and IT Database Systems Departments. He led Harris' IT domestic and international integration of acquired companies. Milla also oversaw the development and deployment of industry leading survey data collection and reporting systems, and was the key company resource on regulatory issues. Prior to joining Harris Interactive, Milla was Senior VP, CIO with Roper Starch Worldwide and held that position at Response Analysis Corporation prior to that its acquisition by Roper Starch Worldwide. Milla will report to SSI Co-founder, President, and CEO, Beverly J. Weiman.

Newman was most recently with Interactive Search Holdings for five years, last serving as Senior VP, Sales and Marketing Solutions, where he achieved revenue and profitability targets for 12 consecutive quarters. In addition, Newman managed all media driven revenue from the company's inception through its eventual sale to Ask Jeeves, Inc. in 2004. His initial role at ISH was as group vice president of Integrated Partnerships where he initiated and closed deals with several strategic partners. Previously, Newman worked as VP, Marketing, Sony Corporation of America. He will report to Terrence Coen, Executive VP at SSI.

'The experience these two gentlemen bring to SSI will further strengthen our position as the global leader in sampling, and supports our plan for further international expansion and acquisitions,' says Weiman. 'Peter has the expertise to successfully lead both domestic and international integration of acquired companies. In addition, Mike and Peter are both really nice guys, who fit nicely into SSI's positive, team-oriented culture.'

Coen adds: 'Bringing Mike and Peter on board is in a large part about anticipation -- anticipation of where communication technologies and the means of collecting people's opinions are going on a global basis. We are anticipating new data sources that will undoubtedly be connected to new technologies, which will permit market and opinion researchers to better identify population segments and communicate with them more efficiently. Mike and Peter have the backgrounds and expertise to keep SSI at the forefront in survey research.'
