CMOR Loses Lee, Launches Public Awareness Campaign

Christopher Lee has resigned as Director of Government Affairs and Counsel for CMOR, the US industry body, saying that 'the call to return to public service and the Federal government was too strong to resist'. The news comes as the organisation launches its 'Your Opinion Counts' (YOC) initiative to improve public perceptions of research.

CMOR lobbies for survey research and works to encourage respondent co-operation. In a statement on its web site Lee says he is 'honored to have been able to help lead the association and its members through the maze of legislative, regulatory and legal issues that affect the profession'.

A strong senior team is still in place with Donna Gillin as Director of Operations, Patrick Glaser as Director of Respondent Cooperation and LaToya Rembert-Lang as State Legislative Coordinator.

The YOC initiative is designed to support and promote 'the mutually beneficial relationship between the public and opinion research'. Member companies affirm their commitment to 'a high standard of respect for the public' and to research which 'will impact products, services and government programs and policy - for the betterment of American society'. Members can display the YOC seal to reassure potential respondents.

As part of the YOC program, CMOR will promote success stories showcasing the role of research – Lipton's use of MR in the development of its iced tea range is the choice for January '07.

CMOR itself has more than 160 members and is online at www.cmor.org . More details of YOC are at www.youropinioncounts.org .
