CMOR Director Role Filled
CMOR has hired a new Director of Government Affairs to replace Christopher Lee, whose departure was reported yesterday. Howard Fienberg, formerly legal advisor to Congressmen Christopher Cox and Cliff Stearns, started work at the survey research body this week.
Fienberg has both government affairs experience and education and a background in opinion research, 'the perfect blend to effectively represent the research profession' according to CMOR Director of Operations Donna Gillin.
He began his Congressional experience serving as Senior Legislative Assistant to then-Congressman Christopher Cox, who later left to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission. Fienberg then became Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Cliff Stearns, author of legislation creating the Do-Not-Call registry and other pending data security measures.
Earlier, he served for more than four years as Senior Analyst with a science policy think tank, the Statistical Assessment Service (STATS), specializing in epidemiology, energy and environment, new technology, and polling. His role included improving the understanding of science and research among journalists and policymakers.
Fienberg holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Essex, UK. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Studies from Trent University, located in Ontario, Canada, and has been published in the Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Philadelphia Inquirer among other papers. He also is an advisor for Kin-Ichi Yoshihara (Asia Forum Japan) on congress and American politics.
