Springboard to Expand in 'Under-Researched' Japan

IT specialist Springboard Research has appointed Robert Triendl to expand its presence in Japan. In the role of Research Director, Triendl will report directly to CEO Dane Anderson.

In a long career in IT consultancy in Japan, Triendl has worked on projects for vendors including IBM, Cray Inc. and DataDirect Networks (DDN), and MR firms including IDC and The Yankee Group. He has a masters degree in mathematics, music, and philosophy from the University of Innsbruck Austria, and is fluent in Japanese, English, French and his native German.

Triendl comments: 'Japan has been relatively under-researched for too long and Springboard can now provide a viable alternative to IT vendors that would like more granular and forward looking research on the Japanese IT market.'

Founded in 2004, Springboard works with software, services, hardware, and telecoms companies and uses offshore research centers as part of a high-tech delivery platform. It has offices in the USA, Australia, Singapore and Japan as well as global research centers in India and Pakistan

Anderson says the expansion shows the firm's long-term commitment to Japan. 'While other markets like China and India have been getting a lot of the hype, Japan is still by far the largest IT market in Asia and a key market for our clients... We are happy to have Robert on board heading up our Japan research and business initiatives along with being a key member of our global management team.'
