Synovate Global Surveys for BBC World

Synovate has announced a deal to provide 24-hour news and information channel BBC World with global surveys based around aspects of the global news agenda. The firm will conduct six opinion surveys across 21 markets in 2007.

The first survey will focus on climate change and headline results will be revealed when BBC World's ClimateWatch season starts in April.

The markets included in the survey are: the USA, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, India, Japan, Poland, Dubai, the UK, South Korea, Brazil, Italy, South Africa, Norway, Spain, Denmark, Russia and Canada.

Steve Garton, Global Head of Media Research for Synovate, says the topics will be of 'key importance to the global audience... The insights and opinions we gather will reveal how the world thinks.'

Sian Kevill, Editorial Director for BBC World, praises Synovate's 'comprehensive global database of panellists' and comments: 'It will be fascinating to see if this global survey will reveal that people around the world have similar, or very different views and opinions about the key global issues, such as global warming or terrorism.'

BBC World is available in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, and reaches 281 million households (146 million 24-hour homes) and more than 1.3 million hotel rooms. It began transmission in 1991 as BBC World Service Television and in 1995 was re-branded BBC World.
