Red Herring Launches Technology Research Division

Californian high-tech business publisher Red Herring has launched a research division. The new unit will provide analysis of five sectors: CleanTech (green technology), life sciences, comms, IT and consumer technologies.

The global research team comprises more than 30 senior analysts and technology writers who will produce a series of reports about groundbreaking technology trends for use by industry specialists, analysts, investors, entrepreneurs and governments. Studies already published include:
  • Liquid Assets: Residential Water Technologies
  • Femtocells: The Next Wave in Fixed Mobile Convergence
  • NIRS: Emerging Living Tissue Monitors.
As MD, Chris Bonnet explained: 'What we want to do is find the next emerging trends, the small private companies that are creating disruptive technologies, so that we can understand better the IPOs and M&A activity of tomorrow. We're looking for things that are, for lack of a better word, 'disruptive', so we can give institutional investors and industries an idea of what the next wave will be.'

Red Herring CEO and Chairman, Alex Vieux, says the resource will give its clients access to 'the most incisive and up-to-date commentary on emerging patterns and financial activity in the global technology industry.' He expects the firm to publish around 50 reports each year.

Red Herring was founded 10 years ago, and has staff based in North America, Latin America, India, Western and Eastern Europe, and China. The company's web site is at www.redherring.com .
