Nielsen to Track Singapore Internet Ad Spend

Nielsen Media Research has launched a service to track Internet advertising spend in Singapore, through its Advertising Information Services (AIS) unit.

Nielsen started tracking online ad spend in January 2007, and the first set of spend data will be made available to subscribers. The new service has been designed to complement the company's online ad measurement system AdRelevance, and companies such as Forbes, Hardware Zone, Microsoft, Yahoo! and a number of media agencies have been supporting the initiative by providing monthly ad spending information.

The firm already measures ad expenditure for TV, newspapers, consumer magazines, radio, cinema and outdoor. Rebecca Tan, Executive Director, Nielsen Media Research, Singapore and Malaysia explained: 'Nielsen is committed to providing the media industry with actionable insights via leading media measurement services, and the addition of tracking new media like the Internet will provide a more complete picture of spending in the local advertising market.'

Tom Sipple, Managing Director, Yahoo! Southeast Asia commented: 'Yahoo! and the founding partners are happy to step-up with Nielsen to reduce the blind spots and provide objective clarity on Internet spending in this region, which is desperately needed.'

Nielsen is online at www.nielsen.com .
