J.D. Power Promotes for Asian Auto Boom

J.D. Power and Associates has strengthened its Asia Pacific management team with the promotions of John Humphrey, Dan Pavlinac and Tim Dunne.

The promotions anticipate the region's dominance of the future of the industry. Jamey Power, Executive Vice President of International Operations, comments: 'Asia - and China in particular - will be the key driver to growth in the global automotive industry in the coming decade. With the addition of John, Dan and Tim to our Asia Pacific team, we expect to grow along with the industry and support our clients as the leading provider of automotive information in these markets.'

Humphrey becomes VP and General Manager of Asia Pacific operations, covering offices in Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing and Shanghai. He has been with the company since 1989, and spent the last five years focusing on Asia Pacific business development, most recently as VP of International Operations and MD of J.D. Power China, whose office he established in 2005. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Arizona State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Pavlinac is promoted to Senior Director of International Operations, responsible for business planning in the China market and based in Troy, MI. A twelve-year veteran of the firm, he served previously as Senior Director, Automotive Client Services. He originally joined the firm's Tokyo office to help establish the firm's presence in the Asia Pacific region, and was responsible for growing the firm's automotive and financial services business in the Japanese market. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.

Dunne has been named Director of Asia Pacific Market Intelligence, responsible for tracking developing automotive markets in China and Southeast Asia and for consulting with North American companies interested in entering or expanding their operations in the region. He joined only in January of this year, having previously been co-founder and partner of Automotive Resources Asia Ltd. (ARA), a market strategy and information firm specializing in Asia's car markets and acquired by J.D. Power in 2006. For the previous dozen years he lived in the People's Republic of China and Southeast Asia, and worked for vehicle manufacturers and other automotive companies. He has a bachelor's degree from University of Michigan.
