IRI Launches Convenience Store Tracker

Information Resources Inc (IRI) has launched a syndicated service to track weekly point-of-sale (POS) data for more than 250 product categories sold in US convenience stores.

John FreelandThe new AllScan Convenience Reviews combines POS data from more than 11,000 convenience stores contained in IRI's All Scan Convenience Store Tracking Service ( www.mrweb.com/drno/news7077.htm ), with data from the firm's continuous retail scanning service InfoScan platform, comprising census-level information from more than 34,000 stores.

IRI gathers this sales trend, price promotion and distribution data through the POS scanners it has installed in independent and chain convenience stores.

'AllScan Convenience Reviews enable users to quickly identify distribution opportunities, key pricing trends and sales dynamics,' says IRI President and CEO John Freeland. 'This means that retailers and manufacturers can focus their time and energy on products and categories that drive the most revenue and margin.'

IRI posted sales of $656m last year and has 3,600 employees worldwide, with about 850 based in its Chicago headquarters. The company, which is owned by California-based holding group Symphony Technology, provides consumer, shopper and retail marketing intelligence and combines this information with automated and predictive analytics.
