Dun & Bradstreet Buys Data Integration Firm

In the US, business information giant Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has acquired Californian-based commercial data integration (CDI) software firm Purisma in a deal valued at $48m.

Purisma develops software that combines customer information from multiple databases and applications. In a statement, D&B said that this Data Hub technology will provide 'a strong technical fit' for its own data quality process, while making it simpler to integrate D&B data with customers' internal data systems. Data Hub will also add software that works within customers' firewalls.

On Monday, D&B reported third-quarter profits up 23%, with a 7% rise in revenue to $389.9m, helped by other recent acquisitions. Net income grew to $56.1m from $45.8m a year ago. At the same time, the firm announced a joint venture in Japan with credit reporting agency Tokyo Shoko Research (TSR).

New Jersey-headquartered D&B's business information database contains statistics on more than 100 million companies across 200 countries worldwide. Its home page is at www.dnb.com. Purisma and TSR are online at www.purisma.com and www.tsr-net.co.jp/english.
