Nielsen Mobile Expands European Reach

Nielsen has expanded its telecom and mobile research division Nielsen Mobile, with the establishment of operations in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Russia. The firm plans additional expansion throughout Europe later this year.

Through the use of its flagship product Subscriber FlowShare Metrics, Nielsen Mobile will now offer European mobile operators the ability to benchmark across market share, subscriber counts, and churn data. 'With the addition of FlowShare, we can now deliver a 360-degree view of the highly competitive mobile landscape in Europe,' explained Jean Littolff, Director Europe, Nielsen Mobile.

Nielsen Mobile (formerly known as Telephia - www.mrweb.com/drno/news6979.htm ) also provides Europe's media and content industry with data on trends and behaviour for mobile content audiences and their consumption of mobile content including Internet, video, games, ringtones and music. 'We see tremendous growth potential for Internet access via mobile phones,' said Littolff. 'We are also actively working with all key stakeholders to develop Nielsen standard measurements around mobile television and will provide the necessary information and tools for companies to more rapidly develop this space.'

In October, Nielsen and TV sports network ESPN announced a collaboration to develop a model to measure consumers' use of media across a variety of platforms including TV, the Internet and digital mobile devices (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7458.htm ).
