IDC to Provide Government Insights in Australia

US-based technology analyst IDC is opening a base in Canberra, Australia for its Government Insights practice. The office will be headed by the group's Federal Government Business Manager Michael Hennessey.

Government Insights was set up in 2006 to deliver research and analysis to government executives and their suppliers, to help them maximise the value of their technology investments. The division's specialisms include market intelligence, in-depth analysis of business strategies, details on best practices, benchmarking research and business case studies.

Explaining the reasons behind the move, Graeme Muller, MD IDC Pacific said: 'This is a logical step for IDC as the government sector is one of the largest spenders on ICT in Australia. IDC is forecasting the Government to spend more than $6bn on IT in 2008.'

IDC was established more than 43 years ago, and now employs more than 900 analysts who provide global, regional, and local expertise on technology and industry opportunities and trends in over 90 countries. The firm is online at www.idc.com, while Government Insights has its own web site at www.government-insights.com.
