NPD Launches BeautyTrends Tracking In Spain

New York-based consumer research firm The NPD Group has launched its BeautyTrends panel in Spain, to measure both the prestige beauty and mass beauty markets through retail sell-through data.

The new service, which is designed to complement NPD's existing BeautyTrends services in the US, France, Italy and China, taps Information Resources Inc's (IRI) syndicated retail tracking service InfoScan, to track fragrance, make-up, and skincare sales.

Data will be collected weekly from selective chains and independent stores and manufacturers will be offered a wide range of measures from sales, price and distribution. NPD will also provide analysis such as performance of new launches, gift sets, and individual shade colors.

'With the extension of BeautyTrends in Spain, NPD demonstrates its willingness to track markets and its capacity to serve clients at the global level. Our ambition is to develop a comprehensive offer responding to our clients' needs,' said Claude Charbit, President of NPD Global Beauty.

NPD and IRI's combined information services will enable customers to benchmark with the global beauty market.

The first data delivery is scheduled in early 2009 with two years of historical data.
