Ipsos MORI First with Security Standard

Ipsos MORI has announced that it is the first research agency in the UK to achieve registration to the international information security standard ISO 27001:2005; recognised as the means to establish, implement and monitor an information security management system (ISMS).

The standard was published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 2005, to provide a framework for applying and managing appropriate controls to safeguard information assets.

Certification is gained through a third party audit and demonstrates an organisation's commitment to confidentiality throughout the workplace, as well as to the reduction of possible risk of fraud, information/data loss and disclosure.

'This is independent recognition that the way we operate meets the most stringent information security requirements,' commented Rowland Lloyd, Operations & Quality Director. 'We are proud to lead the industry in this area and will work hard to ensure we continue to do so.'

Ipsos MORI was accredited to ISO 27001 on 15 August 2008.

In 2006, the firm was the first agency in the world to be accredited to ISO 20252, the international standard for market, opinion, and social research which is driven by the MR industry and professional and trade associations ESOMAR and MRQSA (the Market Research Quality Standards Association).
