AGB Nielsen Awarded TAM Ireland Contract Extension

Television Audience Measurement Ireland has awarded AGB Nielsen Media Research a further five year contract to supply television audience measurement for the Irish markets. The extension begins in September 2010.

Tim Farmer, newly appointed MD of AGB Nielsen Media Research Ireland, explained that his firm's existing service had been enhanced with an increased focus on statistical control, and said that a larger panel size of 1,050 homes would bring greater data granularity to the contract.

He added that this will be underpinned by AGB Nielsen Media Research's UNITAM metering system which comprises an integrated TAM panel system, including peoplemeters, a full polling system, and multi-purpose centralised processing software. The system measures all kinds of exposure to TV content.

'We look forward to delivering our expanded and enhanced service, combining our leading edge metering technology and high quality research solutions, for the remainder of the existing contract and through to 2015,' said Farmer.

AGB Nielsen Media Research, a joint venture between The Nielsen Company and the AGB Group, operates as a separate company, with more than 58,800 homes participating in its panels across more than 27 countries.

In the summer, the firm undertook a project to measure the size of TV audiences of the Beijing Olympic Games.
